It is recognized that when employees have 1st aid training they are in a position to
bring much needed and timely help to an emergency. This can reduce the suffering
of the injured personnel and can sustain their life while EMS personnel are on route
to your workplace. Ensuring you and your employees are trained in occupational
1st aid is preparing your workplace to manage unforeseen emergencies.
Red Cross Workplace Emergency First Aid
Worksafe BC Occupational First Aid Level 1 equivalency course
Duration: 8 hours
Certification:
3 years
Cost: $95
This basic first aid course is designed to provide skills that include and allow for management
of work place accidents and illnesses
Skills Covered:
- Minor wound care
- CPR & obstructed airway management
- Hemorrhage control
- Recognition of spinal injuries and stabilization of the injured worker until a higher
level care is available
- WCB regulatory requirements and appropriate documentation.
Course Requirements:
- Candidates must be 16 years of age to be certified.
- In good health and physical condition
- Candidates must provide the instructor with valid ID.
- This certificate is recognized in Alberta as an Emergency First Aid certificate
equivalent
Trade, Investment and Labour Mobility Agreement (TILMA) Report
Within the Province of British Columbia this Occupational Health and Safety course is
considered by WorkSafe BC to be equivalent to a WorkSafe BC Occupational 1st Aid
Level I certificate
